Lime Rock Park boasts one of the most beautiful natural settings of any race track, precisely because it’s located in the beautiful Northwest Corner of Connecticut. Rich Taylor of Vintage Rallies’ favorite loop will take you throughout Litchfield County, into neighboring New York State and the Berkshire Mountains of southwestern Massachusetts.
Vintage Rallies will be postponing their New England 1000 Rally until May 2021, but plan to host two rallies, Mountain Mille and Texas 1000, this fall. Hear all about the famous and exciting past participants, from country music star Alan Jackson to Keith Martin of Sports Car Market, along with all of the amazing past rally locations.
Vintage Rallies’ has two rallies scheduled for this fall, the New England 1000 and Texas 1000. Both hit new spots and fan favorites, and PFS’ very own Mitch Katz and Keith Neelans are going on the New England 1000. There are still entries, join us!
To do something completely different, after a dozen years rallying around Western Virginia and West Virginia, we moved Mountain Mille 300 miles South. The rally took place just a week after Hurricane Matthew, but the storm affected coastal North Carolina and not the western mountains. Even better, the weather for the rally was perfect.
We attracted a spectacular group of rare cars this year, cars that you’d be fortunate to see at an international concours, let alone driving 1100 miles in four days. Among the stand-outs were the 1952 Cunningham C3 Coupe of Chuck Schoendorf & Pat Lee and the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing of Robert & Beryle Slayden.
The Twisted Sisters are three undulating roads that meander through the heart of Texas hill country, completely free of hair metal, makeup, or football pads. Unless you’re into that stuff. Also known as the Three Sisters, Ranch Road 335, 336, and 337a form a roughly 100 mile loop that boasts the perfect mix of unspoiled vistas and craggy canyons.
Usually, we hold our Texas event in November, when it’s still warm and sunny but there’s not much going on in the rest of the U.S. vintage car world. This year, knowing that the famous Hill Country spring wild flowers would be especially brilliant thanks to El Nino winter rains, we scheduled our Texas Bluebonnets for April 3 through April 8.
