Taking place this year on March 8th, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance draws nearly 250 show vehicles and legions of classic car fans every year. This year’s event will honor Roger Penske, and the featured marque is Lozier. Best of all, since its inception, this event has generated over $3.5 million in support of local and national charities.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida stands as one of the finest collector-car events in North America. This year, auction houses include RM Sotheby’s, Gooding & Company and Bonhams, plus plenty of events from the Concours D’Elegance and Porsche Club of America.
In a few weeks at the Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance, Gooding & Company’s auction will offer a 75,000-mile 1994 BMW 850CSi in the stunning shade Hellrot (German for light red). Pre-sale estimates put this car between $90,000-$110,000, approximately the same price as when the car was new.
The going rate for a Ford GT is about $1.2M-$1.5M, or nearly three times the GT’s original $447,000 MSRP (before options). Barrett-Jackson’s top sale in Scottsdale was $1.485M for a 2017 GT with just 141 miles. A ’17 Ford GT in ’66 Heritage livery was the top sale at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction in October 2019. It sold for $1.54M.
Mercedes made only 65 Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition for global consumption, with 30 coming to the US. This past week, Gooding & Company sold one at its Scottsdale auction for $240k. The pre-sale estimate was $250k-$300k for an essentially new vehicle with just 150 miles.
The 2020 Scottsdale Auctions boasted $226 million dollars in sales between all of the auction houses. This includes supercars, pre-war classics, and even the late Paul Walker’s car collection.
The 2005-2006 Ford GT was an homage to Ford’s 1960s endurance racecars, but intended for the street. One is currently up for auction in Scottsdale at Gooding & Company, featuring Carroll Shelby’s signature on the dashboard.
While hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of collector cars once again changed hands at the world-renowned 2019 Monterey Car Week auctions, preliminary sale totals were reported by Hagerty Insurance and Larry Edsall of ClassicCars.com on Saturday, August 18th at $245.5 million.
Gooding & Company is offering one of Vignale’s finest designs from that time, a 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter, one of only 80. At the time, this meant Ferrari has produced 180 cars. Total. This 212 Inter pre-sale estimate is $1.7m-$2m.
