The Ferrari-Maserati divorce has put the Italian supercar universe back in order, with Maserati emerging with its strongest model line since the 1960s. The newest models include the MC-20 supercar, a high-performance Grecale SUV, and the GranTurismo. The gas-fueled Maserati GranTurismo arrives in spring, with an electric version coming in late 2023. Sources suggest a $170,000 starting price.
Here’s the backstory on the Ferrari Superamerica, first introduced in 2005. Ferrari built only 559 Superamericas, with 170 exported to the United States. At its Monterey auction in August, RM Sotheby’s is offering a Superamerica featuring special order paint and interior, with under 12,000 miles.
Modeled after the F-22A Raptor fighter jet, only 20 Lamborghini Reventón coupes were offered to the public, beginning in 2009. Half of those were purchased in the U.S., priced around $1.5 million. You’ll have an opportunity to purchase Reventón coupe #12, which will be offered for sale at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction in August.
The automotive world may be going EV, but that’s not stopping Aston Martin from introducing its 2023 V-12 Vantage. The new Vantage has a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12 with 690 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. The price tag of “around $300,000” is more than double the base price of the Vantage V-8 model, but you can put your checkbook away. The 333 Vantage V-12s to be built are already spoken for.

The new McLaren 765LT Spider is built for insanely fast speeds. With obsessive attention to reducing mass, the car’s pricing starts at $382,500, without a stereo system or air conditioning, which are no-cost options that add 25 pounds to its weight. This venomous Spider will run from 0-60 in just 2.7 seconds, obliterate the quarter-mile in 10 seconds and top out at 205 mph if you have enough track.
Porsche’s road and track tradition continues with its 992-series 2022 911 GT3, featuring a 4.0 liter flat-six making 502 horsepower, revving to 9,000 rpm. If you already ordered your GT3, it may be sitting on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean near Portugal aboard the sunken cargo that burned and sank last month. The 2005-2006 Ford GT was an homage to Ford’s 1960s endurance racecars, but intended for the street. One is currently up for auction in Scottsdale at Gooding & Company, featuring Carroll Shelby’s signature on the dashboard.
