Model Masterpiece Jaguar D Type

Connoisseurs of the world’s greatest racecars will be closely watching a very rare event occurring at the Scottsdale auctions this month: two Jaguar D-Types will cross the block, but at two separate sales.

Model Masterpiece Sunbeam Tiger

Over a four year period, 7,085 were made, with most sold in the U.S. Many Tiger owners modified, raced and wrecked their cars, and so models left in stock or near-stock condition are relatively rare. Bonhams is offering such a car, a 1965 Tiger that remained in the hands of its original owner until 2014. The red Tiger has a pre-sale estimate of $90,000-$120,000 and will be offered without reserve.

Porsche enthusiasts seek out the ultra-rare 1987-1989 models with the factory Flachbau (“Flat Nose)” option, which gave the car the look of the marque’s 1970s 935 racecar.

The aptly named “ICONS” sale by RM Sotheby’s in New York on December 6 brought $45.5 million for 27 cars sold, 11 that broke the million-dollar mark, stood high above the rest.

Model Masterpiece 1952 Jaguar C Type

The C-Type is an ideal example of an automotive icon, hence the inclusion of a 1952 version in RM Sotheby’s “Icons” auction scheduled for December 6 in New York. This particular example, chassis XKC 007, is the seventh of 53 cars in the chassis number sequence. The pre-sale estimate is $5.5-$7m.
