This weekend is the 20th annual Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance, Texas’ Premier Classic Car and Boat Show at Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, Texas beneffiting the Boys & Girls Harbor. In the spirit of celebrating 20 years Keels & Wheels is inviting back some of the Best in Show winners from the past. The Houston A List voted Keels & Wheels the #1 Best Festival in the 2015 competition. The hours of the event are as follows:
- Saturday May 2nd 10am-5pm
- Sunday May 3rd 9am-4pm
The event is well attended by owners of classic cars and antique wooden Boats, there are 40 different classes for cars and 20 classes for boats. All entrants are greeted with true ‘Texas Hospitality’ and are given full membership to club facilities for the weekend. This year’s honored marques for the automobile are Packard and Mustang and the Boat category include Garwood and Hacker. The 1953 Lincoln X-100 Concept car will be on view at the event this weekend all the way from the Henry Ford Museum as part of Ford’s sponsorship. Keels and Wheels Concours accepts pre-1974 vehicles and does not exceed 200 entrants per year. The pieces are judged on a 100 point system. (Classiccars.com, keels-wheels.com)
Benefiting the Youth of Seabrook
The Boys and Girls Harbor’s mission is to provide healthy, comprehensive care for children and families in crisis. For children who are experiencing family hardship, neglect, abandonment or abuse, the Harbor provides a family environment in a home setting. They receive the charitable donations from the Concours each year. “For the organizers of Keels and Wheels Concours d’Elegance, it’s not about the size of [our] check. It’s about the impact [we] have on Boys and Girls Harbor… Keels and Wheels has given ‘just shy of $1.3 million to Boys and Girls Harbor,’ Fuller said. ‘We meet these kids, form long-term relationships with them, and clearly have a big impact on their lives,’ he said. ‘It’s very gratifying.’ To read more from Keels & Wheels founder Bob Fuller click here.
