Monterey Collector Car Week
The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the most prestigious event of its kind in the world. The cars invited to be displayed are the benchmarks against which all collector cars are judged and valued. The Pebble is Mecca for automotive enthusiasts, bringing the faithful together to pray at the alter of motor oil and hand-hammered aluminum.
Dozens of major automotive events precede the Sunday’s concours, filling just a few square miles of the Monterey Peninsula with thousands of car owners and enviers. Six major auction houses cultivate consignments year-round to sell at Monterey, offering the finest Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Astons available. The sheer density of car enthusiasts make the peninsula fertile soil for automotive marketers seeking to engage those passionate enough to brave the traffic. Dealers show the finest of their marque’s range, while manufacturers jostle for time to unveil their latest concepts.
Should the fleet of hypercars and vintage european GTs overwhelm you, events like the Concours d’Lemons and Tiny Car Show welcome the quirkier side of the collector car hobby. While the bulk of events and auctions take place between the 21st and the 26th, it’s worth getting there early for the Porsche Monterey Classic and the vintage races at Laguna Seca. Displays of automobilia, luxury lifestyle brands, and expert panels round out the week’s attractions.
