One of the east coasts’ finest motorcar events celebrates its 13th year running with great classic cars, yachts and motorcycles. The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance is unique, in that it is actually two concours, back-to-back. Saturday’s Concours Americana is exclusively for American makes, while Sunday’s Concours International is exclusively for imported marques.
Bruce Wennerstrom, founder, when asked how he came to be so passionate about automobiles, replied. “In their teens, guy’s hormones and gasoline all get mixed up together. Most outgrow it – I never did.” Bruce and his wife Genia thought their hometown of Greenwich was the ideal location for a true world-class concours and created the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance which is now recognized as one of the top events of its kind in the country.
Young and old will enjoy trying out the display of “Virtual GT” driving simulators in the Automobile Magazine/Motor Trend pavilion. There will be galleries of automotive art and demonstrations, as well as displays of the very latest new cars such as Mercedes-Benz, Corvette, Lexus, Land Rover, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati and Aston Martin.
Sponsors will include 20 luxury vehicle dealers. The very first year Rolls Royce was on the field they sold 6 new vehicles during the Concours. Porsche sold a $440,000 Carrara GT their first year. Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar have been sponsors consistently since 1996. They see buyers and results.
